Our journey started back in high school with a brief fling in grade 11. Fast forward to our third year of university, we found ourselves reconnecting, picking up right where we left off. Nine incredible years later, John popped the question, and we tied the knot just months shy of our ten-year anniversary.

John’s proposal was perfect. He knows I’m a sucker for planning hikes, so he cleverly had me organize one where I invited my entire family including my 8-month pregnant cousin. Little did I know, everyone was in on the plan, and they all cancelled at the last minute, leaving just the two of us. 

We ventured to Loree Forest, a place John had never been before. He was delighted to find a lookout halfway through the hike. As I was admiring the view, John knelt down and proposed. It was a picture-perfect day with blue skies and fluffy snow; truly one of the most amazing moments of our lives.

Choosing the location for our wedding was a no-brainer. My parents had recently moved to Thornbury, and it quickly became our sanctuary away from city life. Georgian Hills, with its picturesque setting and outdoor charm, captured our hearts instantly.

Our wedding wants were short: good vibes, delicious food, and an epic dance party. Thanks to our amazing vendors, friends, and family, we hit the jackpot on all three.

When it came to planning duties, John took charge of coordinating the food and the toilets. He claims it was an even 30-70 split, but I’m not entirely convinced!

The biggest stress came about a month before the wedding. Suddenly, everything escalated from zero to a hundred, and we found ourselves juggling what felt like a lot at once.

In the days before the wedding, I found peace arriving up North. Hosting our wedding at the stunning outdoor Georgian Hills Vineyards meant the weather was beyond our control. Interestingly, the day before the wedding, the heavy rain eased our minds signifying that whatever happened, it would still be a perfect day. The day of our wedding was filled with excitement and beautiful weather! John was finishing his speech, so he felt a little pressure, but once we shared our first look, any nervous energy quickly dissipated. The entire day was filled with love, laughter, and an unforgettable dance party. How we felt the next day was a clear sign of a memorable party!

The day was filled with so many memorable moments. I was overwhelmed with how meaningful the ceremony was, but my favourite moment was when my husband approached me with a beaming smile declaring it was the best day of his life. For John, having all our loved ones gathered in one place was surreal along with the perfect weather and an epic dance party. It’s a day we’ll cherish forever!
